Title:   Rejustor-based Glow Plug Monitor
Abstract:   Most diesel powered vehicles with glow plugs use a timer to control the length of time the glow plugs are powered. Some vehicles have a dashboard lamp that indicates when the coil for the glow plug relay is powered. Things are fine as long as the glow plug fuse, glow plug relay, glow plug timer and the glow plugs themselves are all working. The only clue that something is wrong is when you start to have difficulty starting the engine in cold weather conditions. This rejustor-based circuit measures the voltage drop present in a custom wiring harness so that the individual glow plugs are monitored for proper operation. This allows one to know exactly which glow plug needs to be replaced when one burns out.
